About the movie

The year is 1910. Emperor Wilhelm II is a guest at the hunting grounds of Prince Hans Friedrich von Teuss. As a reward for a successful hunt, he receives an offer: he can choose whether he wants to become the court's Grand Hunter or an ambassador in London. Choosing the position of a Hunter means that the duchess's dreams of leaving Pszczyna become lest realistic. In the evening, the duchess enters the emperor's bedroom, asking him to change his mind...

The film tells the story of the von Teuss family (corresponding to the owners of Pszczyna, the von Pless family) against the background of such historical events as the Silesian Uprising, the crisis of the 1930s, or contacts with the Nazis, and it shows the struggle for power, money, and own happiness against historical changes.

The prince's three sons: Bolko (gambler, romancing with his stepmother), Conrad (living with a man in Warsaw), and Franzel (a director in Germany), arrive at the palace when von Teuss seems to be dying. And that is how a new chapter in the history of their lives begins in the 1930s. They adopt different attitudes towards life and politics.
