People today are living stressful and hectic lives and are abandoning nature. Urban life is coming to the fore. Tourism institutions are trying to solve this problem by making the rural environment more attractive. One possibility is hipot tourism, a specific form of tourism that uses horses for relaxation and mental cleansing. There are several ranches in the Slovak Paradise that serve people who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a bit of the countryside. These are, for example, the Ranch under the Sharp Rock, the Trapper's Ranch or the Malý Majer Salach.
Areas that operate hipot tourism are commonly called ranches. They offer scenic horseback rides for experienced riders and beginners, horse-drawn carriage rides, and in winter visitors can be pulled by a horse-drawn carriage, all surrounded by undisturbed nature. You can join a riding school, a western riding school and learn about horse breeding itself.
In addition to horses, cattle or other animals are usually kept on the premises, which provides a fine dining experience on the ranches. All of them offer traditional Slovak specialities such as bryndzové halušky, strapačky or pirohy. Some of them even provide Winnetua-style accommodation in teepee tents.
