Inspiracja

Once upon a time, a goddess named Zywia, looking for her place on Earth, wandered into a beautiful valley, where she decided to stay and help people. Her travelling companions were tame animals: a bison and an eagle. Local people came to Zywia's hut to ask for help with their illnesses and worries. One day Bolko, who had been looking for a cure for the king's seriously ill daughter for many years, came to the cottage. The inhabitants took him to Zywia, but she did not know a cure or a spell that could help the princess. She became very sad, however, and when she wept she said to Bolko that he should take her tears and go to the castle, and an eagle would show him the way back, while a bison would carry him on its back.

Bolko thanked her and left. Zywia's tears helped the sick princess, and the king, wishing to thank her for the gift of life he had received, set off for the mountain basin. Unfortunately, he could no longer find Zywia in the cottage, but the inhabitants told him that her tears had formed a spring which had healing powers. The good and noble king named this place Zywiec, and placed the eagle and the bison in the town's coat of arms.
