Description of the place
Bereżki is a former village, today a small forest settlement by the Bieszczady ring road, about 3 km north of Ustrzyki Górne. Before World War II, the village had about 50 houses inhabited by Ukrainians, Gypsies and Jews. In 1946, the population of Bereże was resettled to Ukraine or other regions of Poland and the buildings were burnt down. Today, apart from a few houses in Bereżki, there is a camping site, an information and ticket office of the Bieszczady National Park and a bus stop. The bus stop in Bereżki was immortalised by film-makers in the film "Korowód" - it is there that the film characters get off the minibus.
A place in the movie
Bereżki, a tiny settlement in the Bieszczady Mountains, was used as a location in the film 'Korowód' and shown as a picturesque place far from civilisation, a starting point of a mountain hiking trail. The film's protagonists arrive at Bereżki by minibus and get off at a stop whose name immediately draws attention - it is the inscription Bereżki carved in a wooden plank.
