Jarosław, Market Square
Lokacja szczegółowa
A place in the movie
The picturesque tenement houses surrounding the Market Square in Jarosław are a perfect background for historical film productions. Many scenes for the series "1920.Wojna i miłość" (1920. War And Love) were shot here. For the needs of filmmakers, modern advertisements and boards were replaced with signboards stylized for the 1920s. One of the tenement houses is the seat of the new authorities. The town square is traversed many times by the characters appearing in the series. We see several times a characteristic well located in the Market Square.
In the film "Ether", the interior of Rydzikowa's tenement house appears as a shop where the doctor's assistant tries to change the banknote. The banknote turns out to be counterfeit and the boy escapes from the building.
The 1976 film "Najlepsze w świecie" (The Best In The World) shows many shots of the Market Square in Jarosław. A large part of the film was shot there, including people hiding in arcades and nearby tenement houses from an insane sniper who is shooting at people at random from the Clock Tower in the Market Square. It is the Market Square that the main character of the film, Kajetan, can see from his window.
We will recognize the Jarosław Market Square in the film "Katyn" - in the scene in which a pro-Soviet agitator drives through a Polish city, covered with Soviet flags and Stalin's portraits, and repeats through a megaphone that "The Red Army of the Soviet Union is your only friend."
