Description of the place
Krasiczyn is a village in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, located about 10 km from Przemyśl, on the San River. In the past it was a town, the seat of the Polish magnates since the 15th century. The castle in Krasiczyn is one of the most beautiful monuments of the Polish Renaissance. Despite numerous fires and wars, it has retained almost unchanged the silhouette it was given at the beginning of the 17th century. Built in the form of a quadrilateral, it was oriented with its walls according to the directions of the world. Four cylindrical towers stand at the corners: Divine, Papal, Royal and Noble (Knight). The richly decorated castle now houses a hotel and restaurant.
A place in the movie
In 1940, an anti-Polish film entitled "Wind from the East" was shot on the castle grounds by Soviet film-makers, justifying the USSR's invasion of Poland on 17 September 1939. The castle in Krasiczyn was the setting for the film "Wings", which was made in 1972, The castle had not yet been restored at that time, the dilapidated walls and remnants of its former glory are visible. In the neglected castle and surrounding park, two children and a dog are playing, escaping from a trophy, and the ball scenes were filmed there. Scenes for the historical series The Devil of Lancut were also filmed on the grounds of Krasiczyn castle.
