Description of the place
Mymoń - a village in Poland located in the Podkarpackie Province, in the Sanok poviat, in the Besko municipality, in the valley of the Wisłok River, on its right bank. There is a spectacular geological formation here - the Wisłok River Ravine. The river bends here among steep rock walls that beautifully depict the famous Carpathian flysch - alternating layers of slate and sandstone. While walking along the green tourist trail along the Wisłok River, you can enjoy the view of the multicoloured rocks and rest near the former water mill that powered the sawmill operating here in the past.
A place in the movie
The picturesque scenery of the Wisłok gorge and the austerity of the rock walls surrounding the river were used as the background of the film referring to the western genre. In 1968, scenes for the film "Wilcze Echa" [”The Wolves' Echoes”] were shot here and in 1958. "Ranczo Texas". In 2018, the location was used in the film "Boże Ciało” [”Corpus Christi"] - the protagonist, after leaving the reformatory, admires the open space from the top of a steep rock wall in Mymoń.
