A place in the movie
Františkova Huta is a technical monument - the ruins of the factory hall of the ironworks dating back to 1836. It is located in Orava, near the village of Podbiel, in the Zimny Potok valley, 2 km on the road to Zuberec. The classicist façade, perimeter walls, a blast furnace, an inlet, an outlet channel, and a blower chamber have been preserved.
You can recognize it in several films:
"Niepewne wiadomości o końcu świata"
The scene where Michał sells smuggled horses was shot in the village of Podbiel.
"Tysiącletnia pszczoła"
On the site of the former ironworks, Františkova Huta, a scene was filmed in which a group of bricklayers are looking for the missing Jožek Náder, who has escaped in search of his love. The shot in which the queen bee hosts the Slovak nation was filmed in the very chimney of the blast furnace.
"Pani Zima i dwa światy"
The shots from the film show a classicist façade, perimeter walls, a blast furnace, an inlet and outlet channel and a blower chamber.
