Description of the place
Rymanów is located in the Low Beskids and in Doły Jasielsko-Sanockie. Around the city, there are the so-called Rymanowskie Hills, on which wind farms are powered by southern winds, from the side of the Dukla Pass (the so-called "Rymanów winds"). The Tabor River flows through the city. Until the Second World War, Rymanów was a multicultural city, had a very large Jewish community and was a strong centre of Hasidism. The spa village of Rymanów Zdrój neighbours Rymanów, there is also the lagoon Lake Sieniawskie and the picturesque Wisłoka Jar nearby.
A place in the movie
The Market Square in Rymanów reflects the Galician atmosphere of a small town. Its elevated position provides a great view of the surrounding area. The characteristic "Kogucik" (once a well and now a kiosk) can be seen in the films Rancho Texas and Serce, serduszko. The windmills visible from Rymanów were shown in the Polish-French-Belgian film Wielkie zimno. The now closed "Gozdawa" health resort in Rymanów Zdrój played the role of an orphanage building in the film Serce serduszko.
