Description of the place
Solina is a Subcarpathian village in the Lesko district, known mainly for the dam and picturesque Solina lagoon located there. Most of the area of the former village of Solina, as well as several other villages (Teleśnica Sanna, Horodek, Sokole, Chrewt and a large part of Wołkowya) went under water in the 1960s after several thousand people were previously resettled. Solina is a well-known tourist centre, popular especially in the summer season. There is a bathing area, water equipment rental, a marina from which one can take a cruise on the Solina Lagoon and a large catering base.
A place in the movie
In Solina, the film "Chudy i inni" ("Skinny and Others") was made during the real time of the dam's construction, telling the story of the people working on the dam and the nearby bridge on road No 895.
The dam itself can be seen in episode 5 of the first series of the TV series ''Wataha'', where Polish and Ukrainian smugglers meet to discuss illegal business. On the shore of Lake Solina, near the Komandor marina, scenes of another episode of the series were shot - the guard Aga is caught by a gangster looking into his car, fortunately Rebrov saved the girl by turning up at the right place at the right time.
The former Jawor resort (now the Rewita hotel) played the police headquarters building in season 2 of ''Wataha'', and in the film ''The Big Cold'', the restaurant there is called ''Blue fish'' and is the place where the funeral parlour workers take a customer.
In the film ''The Bend'', scenes were shot at the foot of the dam - the main character's son, an engineer employed there, lives in the hydroelectric power plant service building. Scenes were shot on Lake Solina in which the men, sailing in a boat and a motorboat, discuss life.
