Description of the place
Tarnawa Niżna is a village in Poland located in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, in the Bieszczady District, in the Lutowiska Municipality, on the San River. It is a starting point for excursions into the Upper San Valley - to the vantage point of Ukrainian Sianki and the obelisk symbolising the sources of the San. On the way from Tarnawa Niżna to Bukowiec, there are peat bogs, where you can walk on special bridges. The buildings of Igloopol, which once existed in Tarnawa, are partly used as stables for Hutsul horses, and several horse trails are marked out in the area.
A place in the movie
Situated away from the main tourist routes, Tarnawa Niżna is surrounded by wild nature. Films have been shot here, which took advantage of this element of remoteness from civilisation and the wooden buildings characteristic of the woodland - "On the border" and scenes for the TV series "Wataha".
