Description of the place
Tatranská Lomnica is one of the settlements of the High Tatras. In its heart is the oldest park of the High Tatras, popular for daily walks, offering beautiful views of the Tatra mountains. Various cultural and social events take place in the park. The park is an important centre for international tourism and recreation. Tourists also visit the Museum of the Tatra National Park, the Exposition of Tatra Nature in Tatranská Lomnica, the Tatrabob Mountain Railway and others.
A place in the movie
The unique natural beauty of the surroundings of Tatranská Lomnica enchanted filmmakers, and it became a filming location for many Slovak and international films. The names of the luxurious historical hotels are associated with many famous films. The director Bořivoj Zeman filmed the winter-themed film “Anděl na horách“ here. The footage of the film “Kým skončí táto noc was shot in the original hotel WILLI Družba in Tatranská Lomnica. The film “Román pre ženy“ was shot at the railway station in Tatranská Lomnica. In 2009, the 7th episode of the Czech boating series “Proč bychom se netopili” was filmed in Tatranská Lomnica. Vlado Balco directed the award-winning film Rivers of Babylon, which was filmed in the luxurious Grandhotel Praha in Tatranská Lomnica. In the legendary sci-fi series “Spadla z oblakov“, many scenes take place in the Tatranská Lomnica settlement. The Tatra atmosphere added to the uniqueness of some of the film scenes in “Ženská na vrcholu” (2019), “Medená veža“ (1970), “Orlie pierko” (1972) and "The Devil's Wall” (1948).
