Štrbské pleso, Hotel FIS

The popular FIS Hotel located near Štrbské pleso, at the foot of the High Tatras at the entrance to the Mlynicka valley, has inspired many film makers in the past who have placed scenes of their films here. Also in the film “Fair Play” we can see shots from this place. Athletes Anna and Martina stayed in the hotel during their preparation for the upcoming Olympics. The viewer has the opportunity to see an exterior shot of the hotel. A scene, which took place in the toilets, was also filmed here. The filming of the popular Czech-Slovak TV series "She Fell from the Sky" about Mayka from the planet Gurun took place at the FIS Hotel. There were several scenes in which we can see, for example, the hotel from the outside, or the hotel reception, or the hotel’s surroundings. Scenes from the family film about a magical little man in a black hat called “Pan Tau” also originate from this location. In the film, we can see the hotel reception, the hotel lobby and the hotel restaurant. Although a lot of time has passed since the shooting of the film, the interior of the hotel has not undergone significant changes. The FIS Hotel takes its name from the International Ski Federation FIS. In the film “Okna dokorán”, the hotel can be seen in the background in one of the shots. The FIS Hotel, which was built for the Nordic World Ski Championships, is also seen in the film “Stipku soli”. Vendo Zajicek, who has come to the Tatras for recreation, is staying in this hotel.  The viewer has the opportunity to see an exterior shot of the hotel.  The film “Orlie pierko” was also shot in the FIS Hotel. In the film, the scene of Prašivec debating with his friends takes place in the hotel café. The latter persuade him to play a recording of a rutting deer into a megaphone for tourists at night. In reality, it's just a disguise. The FIS Hotel café has been renovated, but retains certain features. The scenes of Valér showing off his bearskin coat were filmed in the square in front of the FIS Hotel. The view towards the sports complex is captured.
