Description of the place
Tymbark is a village located in the Lesser-Poland Province, in the Limanowa poviat, less than 66 km southeast of Krakow.
Tymbark was granted a town charter in 1353, it was a royal town inhabited mainly by German colonists. The city was called "Tannenberg" (German "fir mountain").
The city's original name as well as its residents later underwent the process of Polonization.
During the interwar period, in 1934, Tymbark lost its town charter due to the small number of residents. The town’s old statute is evidenced by its urban layout with a characteristic Market Square.
Tymbark is known for its juices, nectars, beverages, and mousses produced by the local food industry company named Tymbark.
A place in the movie
The film "Duże Zwierzę" has been filmed at the Tymbark Market Square.
