The legend of the bandit Klimchok

Klimchok was the illegitimate son of a count or, according to some, a prince. He grew up in the Sulkowski castle in Bielsko-Biała, where he always opposed his master's injustice. Unable to watch the evil done to his subjects by the duke, he rebelled, for which he was flogged. He decided to take revenge and became a highwayman who attacked the rich and helped the poor. Klimczok hid his loot in mountain caves guarded by the Jaroszeks, e.g. under Szyndzielnia, in caves on Barania Góra and other places in the Silesian Beskid. On one occasion he managed to capture Prince Sulkowski, who was on his way to see his fiancée Klementyna, with whom Klimczok had always been mutually in love. The robber could not forget his beloved, dressed up in princely robes and kidnapped Klementyna to the mountains, where he built a stone castle for her in the place of today's PTTK shelter. After a while, however, the princess missed her mother and Klimczok, wanting to fulfil her request, went with her to the valleys. Here he was recognised by a villager, who reported this to the commander of the princely guard and the bandit was captured. He died hanging on a hook by his ribs.
