A long time ago, in times that no one remembers anymore, on top of Grojec mountain there was a castle built by the Skrzyński brothers of the Łabędź coat of arms from Skrzynin.
The Skrzyńskis were robber knights, attacking rich merchant caravans and robbing their goods and taking their money. This struck fear into the hearts not only of the lords of Zywiec, but also of King Wladyslaw Jagiellon himself, who sent his troops to Grojec after attacking the king's daughter Elisabeth. A siege began, but it was difficult to conquer the castle located at the top. It was decided to take the robbers by hunger and thirst, and after a few weeks they were forced to surrender. The ringleader of the robbers - Skrzyński - was put into a barrel, nailed inside, and the barrel was lowered from the castle hill.
After some time, a vague figure was seen in the courtyard of the Żywiec castle, rolling a large barrel with a bang. The apparition vanished into thin air and only a loud rumbling voice could be heard from underground. Legend has it that it is the ghost of Skrzyński doing penance for his evil deeds committed. Even though many years have passed, the ghostly sounds can still be heard in the castle, as Skrzyński rolls his barrel once towards Grojec and the other time towards the streets leading away from the castle. Anyone wishing to hear these sounds must wait patiently until the black night comes and keep their ears attentive.
