The most important event of the festival season in the Orava region and a showcase of traditional folk culture is the Podroháčské folklore festival, which takes place at the turn of the summer months in the Museum of the Orava Village, Zuberec. The festival, which has been held since 1975, is the oldest folklore event on the territory of Orava. It is a three-day event, which also includes a traditional fair.
Every year, visitors can look forward to blocks of songs, singing, dancing and customary bands of ensembles, groups and folk music. An inseparable part of the festival is the demonstration and presentation of the history and forms of traditional culture of Orava in the form of craftsmen and musicians. The presence of foreign folklore ensembles, dance schools, the ubiquitous stands with culinary specialities and the fair attractions themselves have been no exception in recent years. All this is dominated by the traditional architecture of the Museum of the Orava Village, Zuberec, which can be proud of its entry in the List of the best ways of preserving intangible cultural heritage in Slovakia. The festival will amaze visitors with the presentation of the forms of tangible and intangible folk culture of Orava - the production of ceramics, the beauty of blueprint printing and the forms of musical culture and folk clothing. The Podroháčské folklore festival also includes a "Walk through Orava, through the museum".
