Description of the place
Brenna, a village belonging to the Beskidzka 5, is one of the largest villages in the Silesian Voivodeship, and its origins date back to the 15th century, when it was inhabited mainly by farmers who came from Silesia and the Wallachians - a nomadic pastoral people who brought with them a new form of farming based on cattle breeding. During Brenna's heyday, there were glassworks here, as well as a fuller's shop where cloth was made for the local market.
Eight mountain trails start in Brenna, leading to the summit of Błatnia, Kotarz, Stary Groń and Równica. There are also several ski centres.
A place in the movie
Brenna's vast mountainous landscapes can be seen in the shots of the film "You are God", telling the story of the Silesian band Paktofonika. The backdrop for the scenes shot here was the house of Gustav - the band's manager, considered a synonym for bloodthirsty capitalism. The film was shot in the winter of 2011, showing the beauty of nature and the unique character of the location.
