Description of the place
Gładyszów is a village located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in Gorlice County, in the central part of the Low Beskids, southeast of Magura Małastowska. It is situated about 20 km south of Gorlice and 10 km from the border with Slovakia, along the valley of the Gładyszówka stream. Initially, the village was called Kwoczeń, and its current name comes from the name of the owners of the upper valley of the Ropa River - the Gładysz knights from Szymbark. In Gładyszów, near the road to Banica, two churches are noteworthy: the Orthodox Church of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist from 1857 and the Greek Catholic Church of the Ascension of the Lord from 1938.
A place in the movie
Gładyszów appears in films mainly because of the picturesque areas, as well as the historic Orthodox Church of the Ascension of the Lord. Inside this church, scenes of the wedding of sister Bożenka and doctor Ruud Van Graff, characters from the series Na dobre i na złe, were filmed. The countryside was also the backdrop for this celebration. All scenes appeared in episode 412 of the series.
