Description of the place
Klimkówka is a village located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in the Gorlice poviat, in the Ropa commune, overlooked by the Tania Góra peak. Klimkówka is characterized by exceptional landscape values. The biggest attraction of the village is the artificial Klimkowskie Lake, created as a result of the construction of a dam on the Ropa River and located on the border between Klimkówki and Łoś. In addition to natural and landscape functions, the reservoir also has flood protection, tourist and recreational significance and, importantly, it is a source of drinking and industrial water for Gorlice and Jasło.
A place in the movie
The lake located in Klimkówka was used in the film "With Fire and Sword" by Jerzy Hoffman to shoot scenes depicting the Dnieper River. The shots were taken immediately after the water was damming up on the lagoon, and it was also possible due to the still virgin nature of the shores of the lake and its surroundings. Also here, in 1976, shots were made for the first episode of the series "Special Signs" with Bronisław Cieślak in the lead role.
