Description of the place
Krosno is a city in the Subcarpathian Province. It was referred to as "parva Cracovia", which means "little Krakow" because the Market Square in Krosno with its Renaissance cloth halls is similar to Krakow's Old Town. The city, located on the Hungarian trade route, has been a centre of crafts and trade for centuries. Krosno is known for the production of utility and decorative glass. The Glass Heritage Centre, located in Market Square, is a place that shows the process of glassmaking in a modern way and documents the rich and comprehensive relationship between Krosno and this extraordinary industry.
The area around Krosno is rich in oil and natural gas. There is an oil well in nearby Bóbrka, which is still operating today. It is worth visiting the Ignacy Łukasiewicz Museum of the Oil and Gas Industry located there.
In the historic building of the railway station, the Etnocentrum was created. It is a place where you can learn about the region's past and take part in numerous workshops based on the achievements of past generations.
A place in the movie
In Krosno, at the PKS bus station, a scene was shot for the film “Boże ciało” ["Corpus Christi"] - the protagonist is eating a "kebab" while waiting for the bus.
