Description of the place
Well-known spa town. The local brine waters were used as early as the 13th century, as mentioned by Jan Długosz. Rabka is situated in the Rabczańska Valley, at an altitude of 500-560 m above sea level. The specific microclimate combined with the properties of mineral waters made the spa specialize in treating children. At the request of the Chapter of the "Order of a Smile", Rabka was named the "City of Children of the World". The city also has the Rabcio Puppet Theatre, the Rabkoland Amusement Park, and the International Festival of Children's Literature in the summer season. In addition, there are brine graduation towers in Spa Park. The historic wooden church now houses the Museum of Władysław Orkan. It is also worth visiting the House of the Three Madonnas, where there is a private Museum of Highlanders and Robbers - Jan Fudala's Gorce Museum. Hiking and cycling trails lead from Rabka to the surrounding peaks of the Gorce (Turbacz), Beskid Wyspowy (Luboń Wielki) and the Babia Góra Range (Babia Góra).
A place in the movie
The films feature shots of Rabka's distinctive spa architecture and the surrounding mountainous countryside. However, the historic railway station is mainly used.
