Description of the place
Skoczów is situated in the foothills of the Silesian Beskid, in the valley of the Vistula River and its first tributaries. The town developed from a craft and market settlement located on the route leading from the south through the Moravian Gate towards Kraków. Numerous floods and fires over the centuries meant that the town had to be rebuilt from the foundations. However, beautiful stone cellars with barrel vaults from the 14th to 15th century have been preserved, which are remnants of the medieval town buildings.
A place in the movie
The streets and buildings of Skoczów, as well as the Kaplicówka hill, were shown in the film "Bad Good Beginnings", which formed the background for the scenes presenting the panorama of Skoczów and the Silesian Beskid as a Laski village. Thanks to its historic townhouses and rich history, Skoczów is a unique setting for film shoots.
