About the movie
"The Golden Train" is a two-part Polish-Romanian thriller film. The plot alludes to real events at the outbreak of the Second World War - the evacuation of the Polish Bank's dollar gold reserves worth almost 90 million from its vault in Warsaw to Western Europe. In the first days of September 1939, a convoy of vehicles set off towards allied Romania. The cargo is to be transshipped onto a train and later onto a ship. The operation is thwarted by German saboteurs. In the film, we can recognise the locations in the Podkarpacie region, as the scenes for the film were shot at the railway station in Łukawica near Lesko, in the open-air museum in Sanok and in Terka.
