Chabówka is a village located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in the Nowy Targ district, in the Rabka-Zdrój commune. It is a town near Rabka - Zdrój, a well-known health resort, that attracts thousands of patients every year. For many years it was an important railway centre and was a transport hub of the region, on the route to Zakopane. Lines from Kraków via Sucha Beskidzka, Nowy Sącz (via Rabka - Zdrój) connect here. Visitors can enjoy attractions such as the Hucul stud farm, ski lifts and the Open Air Railway Museum, which hosts the annual Parowozjada, a cyclical railway event organised since 2005.
A place in the movie
Chabowka was used as a film set, among others, in such productions as Syberiada Polska from 2013 and the series Młody Piłsudski from 2018-2019, shot in connection with the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining independence. The Open Air Railway Rolling Stock Museum was used as the main set. During the filming of numerous scenes, unique exhibits of the museum, including steam locomotives, wagons and platforms, were an authentic background for the plot of the production.
