Chabówka, Rolling Stock Open-Air Museum
Lokacja szczegółowa
A place in the movie
Elements of the open-air museum appear in scenes related to rail transport. Syberiada polska - scenes of the departure of Podolans from the Krasny Yar station to Siberia (1941) and the departure of Polish recruits from Siberia to join the newly-formed Kosciuszko Division, which was to make its way to its homeland alongside the Red Army (1943), were filmed here on the grounds of the open-air museum and using historical rolling stock. The original plan was to shoot on the line to Limanowa, but cost-cutting decided to shoot both sets at the open-air museum. For the purposes of the film, part of the workshop buildings was transformed into the building of the Krasny Yar railway station in Podolia using a purpose-built façade.
Młody Piłsudski - shooting was carried out at the station in Kasina Wielka. The station building has been turned into Siedlce station, and a replica of the building in Bezdany, where Józef Piłsudski, as a young boy, attacked a train carrying a contribution from Warsaw to Tsarist Russia, has been built in the background. For this purpose, freight wagons from the early 20th century were used, as well as a second train set up with an OKz32-2 steam locomotive and two-axle retro wagons.
