Description of the place
Čičmany is the highest village in the Žilina Region, located near the source of the river "Rajčianky" in the Strážov Hills. Thanks to its unique ancient architecture, since 1977 part of the village has been declared a monumental reserve of folk architecture. In the village, tourists can admire, besides the unique wooden houses, an ethnographic exposition. There is also a manor house, a church and many tourist attractions in the village.

In the documentary film With You I'm Entertained by Slovakia, one can see the unique ancient architecture, which is made up of painted log wooden houses and is a great attraction not only for tourists from all over the world, but also for documentary filmmakers who discover it and capture the beauty of Slovakia in their footage. Apart from the picturesque wooden houses, the village is interesting for its local folk costume with geometric ornaments. The main heroes of the documentary also describe the recreational opportunities in the village in a very engaging way.
