Description of the place
A village in the Nowy Sącz district. It is located in Beskid Sądecki on the Poprad River, at the mouth of Wielka Roztoka. The village owes its origin and name to the castle in Rytro located on Góra Zamkowa. According to tradition confirmed by the records of Jan Długosz, at the beginning of the 13th century, German knights were to settle here. Since then, a legend about a treasure hidden here has been passed down. Currently, the ruins of the castle are being successively reconstructed. The village is a popular tourist destination. Rytro is a starting point for the Radziejowa Range (to the west) and the Jaworzyna Krynicka Range (to the east). It has a ski resort, a good hotel and accommodation base.
