About the movie
Prince Radúz unwittingly shoots a sacred stag in the land of King Stoimir. The king has him imprisoned for this at the request of his wife, Runa. Radúz ends up chained to a high cliff, from where he is rescued by the king's youngest daughter, Mahulena. Together they escape to Radúz's kingdom, but before that Runa curses them. When Radúz kisses his mother at his father's funeral, he forgets Mahulena and she turns into a tree with grief.
