Rzeszow, Old Cemetery
Lokacja szczegółowa
A place in the movie
The Old Cemetery in Rzeszów is the oldest preserved necropolis in the city, founded in 1792. Since 1968 it has had the status of a historic site. It is located between Targowa Street and the Wisłok River next to Hala Targowa. About 40,000 people are buried there, but due to war damage and vandalism, the cemetery currently has 622 tombstones of various shapes, forms and architectural styles.
The historic cemetery was used as a film location by the makers of the film Trędowata - the final scene of the burial of Stefcia Rudecka, the eponymous Trędowata - a young woman who was rejected by her fiancé's aristocratic family - was shot there. Stefcia's resting place in the film was the grave of the Dreziński family - the sarcophagus is located on the right side of the entrance, opposite the second side alley. In the film, it seems that the grave is located on the outskirts of the cemetery, but this fence was only a fragment of the set design.
