- Andrzej Wajda's father was a prisoner of war in the Starobelsk camp and a victim of the crime.
- Stary Dzików is used in the film to portray Kozielsk. The film props in the form of multi-level wooden bunks remain in the closed Orthodox church. The Dzikowiec municipality intended to create a museum of Wajda's work or the Katyn massacre museum in the old Orthodox church.
