About the movie
A film ballad about the dramatic lives of the people of Orava during the First World War. In the foreground we follow the story of Eva Hlavajova, a young woman who lives in times of hunger and poverty after her husband has gone to war. Her tragic death sparks a revolt by the people of the village against the unbearable conditions. The film highlights the effects of war on ordinary people and was based on the novel of the same name by Milo Urban.
