Štrbské pleso - lake

The natural lake Štrbské pleso became a filming location for a German film with an Indian theme called "The Great Snake”. Scenes of the popular film were filmed by the lake, where a cabin was built especially for the film, where Tom and his daughter Judith lived. Several important scenes of the film took place on the lake, where you can also see the nearby surroundings of the lake and the towering mountains of the High Tatras.

The lake’s icy surface was used by director Vladimír Sís in the film “Ľadoví muži”, in which the Slavoj hockey team goes to the High Tatras for a training camp. Scenes of the film were shot directly on the lake, as the hockey players learn to skate in the style of their coach Havránek. In the background, the peaks and mountains of the High Tatras are covered with snow.  

The enchanting beauty of the surroundings of Štrbské Pleso motivated the film makers who shot the scene of the movie “Hudba sŕdc” here. In this scene, tenor Urbanec shows the panorama of his hometown to Milada, whose heart he wants to win. In the shot we can see Solisko, a ski jump, with Štrbský štít, Satan and Patria rising in the background.
